In-Depth: 2009 First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit The homebuyer tax credit is one of 10 key provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed by President Obama into law on Feb. 17, 2009.
The bill provides for a $8,000 tax credit that would be available to first-time home buyers for the purchase of a principal residence on or after January 1, 2009 and before December 1, 2009. The credit does not require repayment. Most of the mechanics of the credit will be the same as under the 2008 rules: the credit will be claimed on a tax return to reduce the purchaser's income tax liability. If any credit amount remains unused, then the unused amount will be refunded as a check to the purchaser. |

Congratulations! You have decided to purchase a home, or are thinking about buying one. You'll be joining the ranks of hundreds of families who realize that home ownership offers a number of benefits including building equity, saving for the future, and creating an environment for your family. When you own your own home, your hard-earned dollars contribute to your mortgage. The equity you earn is yours. Over time, your home will increase in value.
My NUMBER 1 recommendation on the Home Buying Process is to enlist the services of a Buyer's Agent.
A Buyer's Agent
* Cost you, the Buyer, NOTHING. Their fee is already paid for from the listing agent.
* Will walk you through the whole Home Buying process
* Provides valuable resources and tools. Real Estate Agents live in the world of real estate and have an insight that only comes with experience. Tap into that knowledge. Don't go it alone. BE REPRESENTED!
It is a good idea to interview 3 agents. I would love to be included in your interview process. Ask lots of questions and go with the agent that you feel you can trust in helping you make the largest purchase of your life. |
